Family First

You may have noticed my Etsy shop is closed. My 4 year old daughter, who you may have seen modeling some of my clothing, was just diagnosed with cancer. All of my time and energy will be going to her and the rest of my family. We have a long road ahead of us so I am unsure if/when I will be re-opening. I am grateful for and find comfort in my belief of eternal families.

Thank you to everyone who is praying on our behalf. We feel strengthened because of them.

~Sally

First Year

Today is the 1 year anniversary of ShicShoppe. One year ago I set out on this adventure. Since then it has been the perfect outlet for my creative energy. 10 years ago as my mother was nagging at me to work on my sewing projects for 4-H, I never would have guessed I'd love sewing so much now. It has been a joy for me to share my love with all of you!

Thanks to all those who have supported me through encouragement (and purchases too!). Hearing the great compliments makes it even more enjoyable for me. Know that every item I have sold/will sell is made with great care and love!

May there be many more great years to come at ShicShoppe!

We are quickly approaching the 1 year anniversary of our Etsy shop opening (March 16) and what better way to celebrate than by giving away FREE stuff!?! We are giving away 5, YES 5!, of our original flower clips. These clips are great for kids hair, women's hair, clipped on headbands, bags, jackets, a gift topper or anything else you can think of. So how do you get one of these shipped to you for free??? Here's the scoop...
All you have to do is write a post on your blog about ShicShoppe and include the following:
1) Mention that we have a blog and Facebook page
shicshoppe.blogspot.com

2) Include atleast 2 links to our Etsy page.

3) You are also free to use pictures of our products. You have my permission to take them from the blog, Facebook or our Etsy page. (just right click and select "save image as" and save it to your computer, then upload to your post)

New Designs

There's new stuff going on at ShicShoppe. Check out our new labels:

I love them. Almost as much as I love this new dress...
The JANE is a vintage inspired kinda-peasant-style dress. I especially like the wider round neckline.
Accessories NOT Included

Very cute with a sweater too. Comes in sizes 3T, 4T, 5T and 6.
And a darling little skirt named the SARI.
An elastic waist and slight A-line shape keeps it comfy. Comes in sizes 12-18 mo, 2T, 3T, 4T, 5T and 6.
I have MUCH more in the works including some items using these fabrics...

...so check back soon!

Finally....Holiday Dress Pictures

I expected my girls would be gorgeous in their Christmas dresses, and they didn't disappoint!

A got a square neck and gathered skirt:

L got a round neckline with a gathered skirt:
Pair them with the darling Target sweaters: Perfection.
Professional photos courtesy of Ashley Malena Photography.
L wants to be just like her Aunt Ashley...
And that's just fine with me.

Vinyl

I will be posting pictures of my girls' Christmas dresses soon, I promise! But I have something exciting to share with you right now.

Have you ever used vinyl? I have to admit, I am slightly obsessed with it! It is a great affordable way to add a little something to a room or project. And.....It doesn't have to be permanent. Perfect for renters!

Anyway, the big excitement is that I am sharing the best place to get your vinyl from.
Expressions Vinyl has the best prices, with lots of options and color choices. I am now an affiliate (which means I get a commission of all sales referred from my links) so tell all your friends to head to my blog and click on the link on the top right hand side and get busy with some vinyl fun!

Here are a few examples of things I've done with vinyl.
In case you're wondering...My handy carpenter husband made the super cute headboard. The bedspread was made by little old me.
Oh, and if you're wondering, YES I would be happy to cut and sell vinyl to anyone who is interested. Just e-mail me with any questions! shicshoppe@yahoo.com

Sneak Peak

Here's a little speak peak of my girls' Christmas dresses...
They are going to be G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S. in them!

Holiday Dress Dilemma

It all started a few weeks ago when I spotted this sweater at Target.
I knew nobody would be cuter in it than my 2 girls! I immediately formed a plan to warrant me buying them...They would be for my girls to wear with their Christmas dress or skirt. And they would be able to get lots of other wear out of it. Makes sense, right???
Next step: Dress or Skirt? I walked into the fabric store and spotted a gorgeous piece of metallic silver and black plaid taffeta. I was in love. I decided I would make cute little skirts out of it, pair it with a red shirt and the black sweaters and it would be holiday perfection! I was so excited to show my mom the fabric but when I went to get it out of my car, it wasn't there! The bag from the fabric store was there with 1 spool of ribbon in it (I had bought 2 spools) and that was it. I called the store to see if I left a bag in the cart or at the counter....no such luck! I do remember letting big sister carry it out to the car and somehow we must have lost a few items. I was distraught.
Then the real problem came. I had lots of time to dream up other ideas and I went searching for inspiration online. And, of course, I found some dresses I am in love with! So I've went from a simple skirt to thinking about over the top gorgeous dresses like these:

Or maybe something a little more simple like this:
I haven't made up my mind yet. Any thoughts???
I'll be sure to post pictures when I'm done!
